Rabbi Boteach has an interesting article over at the Huffington Post. He comments on Barack Obama’s enthusiasm for having family dinners and encourages American families to have Family Night at least one night per week. I think this is a brilliant idea. We almost always have dinner together en famille, but evenings are often spent zoned out in front of one electronic device or another. We’ve designated Fridays as our unplugged night. No electronic devices of any kind, not even games. We’re going to play Go Fish, Scrabble and Bingo together as a family. I’m really looking forward to it.
Similarly, I like this Pastor Ed Young encouraging his married parishioners to have seven days of sex. In these economic times to let other issues come between us and one of God’s greatest gifts. Sexuality is meant to bond a married couple together, to aid and comfort one another. Instead of having less sex because the bills have got you down, try to have more. At the very least, it’s a fabulous stress reliever!
It’s good to report on religious folks who aren’t fuckwits. I hope to have an opportunity to bring you more of them.
Great post and link, if I am ever around there, I’d have to visit that church.
