Raspberry Sorbet Is Now Available

Another delicious title in the Luscious Love series…

Paisley, struggling with the effects of a tragic incident in her past owns a sorbet shop on the ground floor of a midtown Atlanta high-rise. She has developed an embarrassing crush on Stephan, budding tech entrepreneur and lover of raspberry sorbet whose company occupies the top floor of her building. Though she doesn’t realize it, her crush is very much reciprocated and then some but before he can act on his feelings Stephan has to deal with an internal threat to his business. Fortunately for both of them, he has cleverly figured out a way to navigate the perils of the Dark Web while pursuing Paisley…at least he hopes so.

This the third book in my Luscious Love series. All about the rather bohemian Blakemore family, and two of my favorite things, love andFOOD!

Obviously the title is a play on the title of my favorite Prince song, Raspberry Beret. Yes, I still love puns. But it’s also related to the birth of my firstborn, Luke. When I was pregnant with Luke, I had bad morning sickness. Sorbet is one of the few things I could eat, and raspberry was my favorite. Except, as seems to always happen to me, there was no raspberry sorbet to be found in Huntsville, AL! Whit, my husband, who had checked every grocery store in town, started to sing, “All she wanted was raspberry sorbet, the kind you can’t find in any grocery store.” Hilarious right? I knew right then I had to write a book with that title.

I’m also excited about the giveaway for my favorite Senate candidate Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock. Donate at least $5 to his campaign, send me a copy of the receipt and get a free copy of the book!

The Meadowlark Saga Continues…

…with TWO exciting new sequels to Gee Whiz it’s Christmas

Sometimes the best family is the one you make for yourself…
Leonie Brooks will never forget the day she and her three sisters were put into “the system.” At twelve, she’d been the oldest, and used to being in control and responsible for them all. The day that control was snatched away was the day she promised herself that she’d send the world to hell before she’d ever let herself be put into a situation where it could be stolen away again.Sixteen years later Leonie is flying high and riding on a wave of success in the exclusive private equity firm she works for. She realizes she’d been lucky to have been placed in the foster home of the owners of The Meadowlark, one of the finest restaurants in Atlanta and will be forever grateful for having found another family that supported her and helped her get to a place in her life where she has control. Her hard-won control is as precious to her as a child is to its parents. The one person she can see herself willingly giving it up for is the boss’s son and it terrifies her, which is why she has made it a point to keep him at arm’s length.Buck Kilpatrick, IV has loved Leonie almost since the moment he met her when they were 21-year old interns in his family’s firm. He doesn’t know everything about her, but he knows that her past is what’s keeping her from letting go just a little bit and embracing a future with him. She knows they’d be good together, but is too afraid to try, and while he loves their friendship and the sexual teasing they engage in, he wants more — so much more. He has a decision to make, and so does she: continue with the status quo, or cut ties completely.
She had known him for most of her life…

Having suffered horrific abuse as a child that left her deaf, Tabi has worked hard to assert her independence and learn how to survive and thrive as a deaf woman in a hearing world. Her foster brother Scrapper has always been there, lending his support and protection. He’s been both playmate and Knight in Tarnished Armor. One mistletoe-fueled kiss changes all that and now Tabi finds herself struggling with new and unexpected emotions. Intrigued by her attraction to Scrapper she wants to explore those feelings, but there is one major barrier; Scrapper.

Having lived most of his life in foster care Scrapper knows what it is to have nothing and no one, not even his own name. His foster family is the lodestar of his life, the foundation that helps him contain and conceal his deep-seated fears and insecurities, and he is determined to hold onto it at all costs—even if it means he can’t have Tabi, the only woman he has ever loved.

Jay welcomes a second opportunity to get Pace into his bed, but knows he has to play his cards right, otherwise she’ll run again. She’ll get the money, but only if she agrees to be Jay’s mistress.

Keeping her side of the bargain is no hardship for Pace. One night in Jay’s arms leaves her craving more. Before long, they’re all-in for a high-stakes love affair, but overcoming her fears might be more than even he can ante up for.

The Superstar Cover

SuperStar16x24

Whit and I were discussing some upcoming projects I’m working on, including a Christmas serial with Lisa. (I just love saying Christmas serial. It sounds like “cereal” you only get at Christmas time. I imagine it looking like Rice Krispies with little red marshmallow stars and santas.) Anyway, we started brainstorming the covers for the serial (There will be five BTW. Starting around Thanksgiving. Watch this space for updates!) which is what we do, usually months out, and laughing about what a PITA the Superstar cover was. Superstar, the book, is very near and dear to me. As I’ve said many times before, I was a black rocker chick and it was crucial to me that there be an UNAMBIGUOUSLY BLACK WOMAN on the cover of this book. As a young woman, sure I wanted to sleep with Robert Plant (and really, who didn’t?), but I wanted to BE Jimmy Page. So this was personal.

Finding a stock picture of a black woman with braids, playing a guitar and seriously rocking out was damned near impossible. Most of the pictures of women with guitars are all sex kittenish (WTF is UP with that? It’s like those half naked women with guns. Just effing annoying.) An axewoman should look badass, not fucktoy. It took me over a year of endlessly scanning stock sites. When I found this one, I bought it on the spot. Then, after all that, Whit didn’t like it. He went through all the technical issues he had with the photo while my eyes glazed over which is what happens when he starts talking about masks and shadows. Usually, when he doesn’t like a photo he won’t work with it. Keeping in mind he is working for free, most of the time I don’t complain, but in this case, I did. And, as usual, he produced what I think of as one our best covers. And yes, I know I ALWAYS say that, but this time I’m serious. One of these days when I finally get my office the way I want it, this one is going up on the wall. I love it that much.
