Like everyone else I’ve been watching the events in North Africa as the despots falls one-by-one. Libya is particularly interesting because the Pussycat Death Squad was inspired by Quadaffi’s all-female Amazonian Guard. The fictional country in that book, Laritrea, is a thinly disguised Libya. And, of course, the Byzantine machinations of the Colonel in that story are as I would imagine a power-mad dictator would dream up. I’m often inspired by current events or historical events when I conceive my stories, I just never thought I’d be watching those events unfold much as they did in my book. It’s kind of eerie, but interesting at the same time.
