So Lisa, my critique partner has looked over the manuscript. She likes it, thinks it’s funny and sexy. Now I’m getting ready to send it to Judi, my intrepid editor at Loose Id. With any luck sometime within the next few days I’ll be in the first round of edits.
Meanwhile I’ve got to finish that #$%^& blurb worksheet. I know I kvetch about it all the time, but selling your book in 200 words is damned hard. The cover blurb is much easier, I really like to see what the artist does with the descriptions and whatnot that I give them. Of course, I love it when they do what I suggest, unfortunately the two times they’ve done that the books have tanked. Clearly I know nothing about marketing–but I do know what’s pretty! 😀
Either way, I’m thrilled to be finished with this one. I’ll probably pull Taken out tonight and start working on it. It’s a sequel to Given, we’re hoping it’ll sell better since it is IR. We haven’t sold it yet. Loose Id gets first eye, but considering that Given didn’t sell well they might take a pass, we’ll see.

i personally cannot wait for Taken as i enjoyed reading Given and i find it really sad that Given didn’t sell well on Loose Id. good luck with everything.
I just can’t understand why Given didn’t sell better. I’m only about halfway through but I am loving it!

Hey Roz, congrats (That should mean my fantasy book is coming up sooner :). You know, I have mad respect for black female authors, the more accomplished one becomes it won’t be any easier to please everyone. There will always be that one book or two that readers grade harder based on the author’s previous accomplishments. For that I also give much respect.
