I’m collecting quotes about writing and books so that when I finally have my library together I’ll stencil the quotes on the walls. Here are some of my faves.
“Writing is like the heart of a glacier, it’s one eternal grind.” ~ John Muir
“If I have a little money I buy books; and if any is left, I buy food and clothes.” – Erasmus
“I hate writing; I love having written.” – Dorothy Parker
“If there’s a book you really want to read but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” ~Toni Morrison
“To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from almost all the miseries of life.” ~W. Somerset Maugham
Can you believe this is a photo of somebody’s personal library? Mine won’t be nearly this cool (After all, dude’s got Sputnik up in there), but I definitely intend for it to be the centerpiece of my home. (Aside for the kitchen, of course.)
That’s ways too confusing looking for me. Am a minimalist, especially because am getting up there in age, was married most of my young, not so young and kinda up there age life and now that I’m “free”, ie, divorced, want to live like a nomad with a small bookshelf of I/R romances and some of my favourite fiction authors for company, a bed, bathroom, I’m set to travel the world.
Sorry, am at home on vacation because (hyper) I sprained my ankle so badly had to cancel my hiking trip to Scotland, so you’ll be hearing lots of ramblings/opinions from me in the next 2wks. Hope you don’t mind. Gotta jet, my bum’s falling asleep sitting so long….
Your fan
…oops sorry, love the quote by Erasmus. Sums up my attitude perfectly…..
Bummer about your ankle, but I look forward to talking to you more.
