Imma need celebrities to stop adopting their relatives, or at least to stop talking about it. Nobody’s ever going to convince me that Nicole and Brenda Richie aren’t related. It’s even more apparent now that Nicole is wearing her hair dark, but even in these pictures you can see the same eyes, nose and mouth. They even have the same teeth. Brenda, step up and stop Tom Cruising us about your child.

Wow! They do look alike.
wow you found another one, these things are so obvious when you point them out, so who is the father?
Now see, I didn’t want to ask that tsky little question. I’m going to give the lady the benefit of the doubt and assume she adopted a relative’s child, though, of course, the writer in me wants to come up with the ultimate secret baby story. -lol-
Um, longtime lurker–first time commenter. I totally love your blog but I have to say I think you’re total wrongness on this one. I’ve always “heard” or it’s been implied that Brenda Richie had fertility issues. Maybe Nicole is a distant relative or whatever but there’s no shame in adopting some wayward relative’s neglected child. I do think it’s in poor taste to make light of someone’s (semi) obvious fertility struggle. I love ya, but I’m not down for that.
KK, clearly you haven’t been reading this blog long, or you would have read about my own fertility struggles, miscarriages and stillbirth. I would never make fun of anyone’s fertility struggles, and certainly didn’t in this thread. I too had read about Brenda Richie’s fertility struggles and assume that she adopted a relative’s child. And you’re right, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just wonder why they’re keeping it a secret. But for the life of me I can’t see how you read what I posted and concluded I was mocking her infertility issues. I made a similar comment about Tom Cruise and his son Connor, who is the spitting image of him as well. As I understand it, Nicole Kidman too had fertility issues and at least one miscarriage. I’ve written at length about this issue, and frankly I am hurt that anyone would think I would make fun of it. Miscarriages and infertility hurt, they hurt deeply in a way that’s indescribable. I don’t know what I could possibly have said that would make anyone ANYONE, but especially a long-term reader think I was that type of person who would do that.
I respect you and I respect your blog, but I didn’t understand why you would come at Brenda that way. I normally don’t comment on anyone’s blog but I felt compelled to write because I felt everything about the blog post was way outside what I expected from reading your blog in the past. I did catch the Tom/Connor Cruise post back awhile ago and I admit since I’m not a fan of TC I didn’t really blink. But when I saw your Brenda Richie post, it didn’t quite sit right with me. The Brenda Richie entry is entitled “Another Lying Celebrity”, and the tag *is* “Fun Stuff”. So it truly appeared you were mocking her. I’m all for calling out celebrities for shenanigans, but taking in a child, possibly a relative’s child is not shady at all. I just remember the love shining from Brenda Richie (after what seemed to be arduous infertility journey) when she got little Nicole, and I think that’s what should be celebrated. But like I said, I respect you–that’s why I spoke up. If I didn’t think so highly of you–I wouldn’t have a said a thing, I would have just kept it movin.
Whoopsie, should say “it truly appeared like you were mocking her”.
Oh. Dear. Lawd. Nicole is hands off. It was interesting reading, but here’s where the side walk ends…truthfully.
Most of my celebrity commentary is under the category of Fun Stuff, that is, stuff that I don’t take seriously. I don’t think Nicole Richie’s parentage is all that important, but I did think it was interesting and curious. That had nothing to do with Brenda’s inability to bear children herself. I was mocking the fact that somewhere down the line somebody’s lying about where that child came from. And as I said, I did the same with Tom Cruise and will probably continue to do the same if I come across any others.
@SparklingApCider, I know. I guess I need to make it clear from the get-go, I do make fun of celebrities and I do it pretty regularly. If you’re offended by me making fun of celebrities then you probably shouldn’t read my celebrity posts.
As a relative of Brenda Harvey Richie, I know for a fact that there is no bloodline between her and Nicole. Brenda is and always has been beautiful. Nicole resembles her in some photos, but Nicole is not in our family. Brenda would not have an agenda that fits the rumor on this blog. Research and get facts before sprending untruths that can be proven. Be very careful, because I am watching.
Y’all are some seriously silly people. If there’s no validity to the comment what on earth do you care what’s said on a low-traffic blog like mine. Please do continue watching, and hey buy a few books while you’re at it.
As another relative of Brenda Harvey Richie,
I have to tell you that we would have no reason to deny that Nicole was a blood relative if indeed she was. She is a much loved relative and really, you are spending much more time on it than we do. I won’t be watching what you say; in fact, I just happened upon this blog and don’t even know your name. Get a life.
“What on earth do you care what’s said on a low-traffic blog like mine?” You’re giving yourself too little credit. When I googled Brenda, this site was one of the first that popped up. I guess that’s a testament that we must always be careful when we’re talking about real people with real families, celebrity or no. Keep writing, tho!
Of course it’s one of the first. Search engines operate on algorithms. The more people click on the link the higher it rises on the search engine. So by constantly flocking over here to berate me for expressing an opinion on MY blog, people are ensuring that this post will continue to be at the top. Ignore it and it’ll sink to the bottom.
Who cares that any of Brenda Richie’s family is watching. People can publish and say whatever they feel like. I have celebrity persons in my family too. They are game for gossip just like regular folks like us. Who cares if anyone is related to these so called celebrities. They do dirt, eat drink and fart like all the rest of us. Keep on publishing what you want Roslyn, it’s your blog. All the rest should stay off the blog and divert from the site if you don’t like it. Anyways, it is published all over Wikipedia that Nicole IS the biological daughter of Sheila E.’s brother Peter Escovedo, who was in Lionel Richie’s band. Therefore, she is actually the niece of Sheila E. If you don’t think so. Go curse out the makers of Wikipedia and the numerous OTHER sources that make it known!!!! So, who cares if you are watching. We can publish what we want. Now, stop me! You can’t and you won’t!!
WOW!! I am only commenting because an e-mail popped up in my mail today. Another Lying Celebrity!!! Diana Ross is really Michael Jackson’s biological mother and this is why he wanted her to rear his children. Get a load of this one. Yes, Tom Cruise is Elizabeth Taylor’s biological son. And, wait, there’s more, EL Debarge is Lena Horne’s biological son. One more, you are really Elvis Presley’s daughter. Keep this going and you will not be Another Lying Celebrity, you are true to the game.
I’m not saying it’s true or false, but because someone can’t get pregnant by their husband does not mean that they can’t get pregnant. These two look a like, but that doesn’t make them related, however – we’ll never know.
Nicolle is more biologically related to Sheila E than Brenda Richi. ( look it up!) And I remember when Brenda whipped Lionel and his chick on the side a$$ when she cought him messing around..The latter married him and took all his $$$ while Brenda was by his side while he made something of himself- I can’t stand him or Smokey Robinson- ( cheating a$$!)
